SOUND DOCTRINE FOUNDATION - FOUNDER John S. Winston, Sr. was a member of the Church of Christ 83 years (1918-2001).
His membership was in the congregation established by his Grandfather
Turner Mitchell, shortly after slavery in Plummersville, Arkansas. SOUND DOCTRINE PROGRAM For
fifty-two years Bro. Winston's Teaching and Training Program, was and is
an important work of his ministry. This program was especially designed to encourage
young men, to become teachers, preachers, elders ,and deacons.
Young women who attend this class were encouraged to be teachers,
and to understand the role of being wives of ministers, elders, and deacons.
There are a number of former members of the program serving successfully
in the ministry today. CHRISTIAN EDUCATION Bro.
Winston, was reared in the Church of Christ, from a very young age was
interested in the concerned about the need of a Christian school supported
by members of the Church of Christ, where young black people could attend. |
