MIZETTA BRIDGES WINSTON AUXILIARY

Sister Mizetta Bridges Winston was the wife of Evangelist John Steve Winston, Sr. they were married for 51 years at the time of her demise October 20, 1985. A loyal and devoted wife, she was a prime example of the words spoken by Ruth, "Where you go, I will go." She was the mother of 11 children of which 10 are still living and faithful members of the Church of Christ.

She was admired for her dedicated service in the Lord's Church, a dedicated teacher and wise counselor of Ladies Bible classes. Her greatest delight was raising funds to promote Christian Education. She worked with the very first Southern Bible Institute Women At Work group in Fort Worth, Texas After moving to Cleveland, Ohio, she worked with the Southwestern Christian College Browser Associated Women. It is for this cause that we honor and cherish her memory through the establishment of the "Mizetta Bridges Winston Auxiliary" to complement the Sound Doctrine Foundation.

In 1982, Bro. J.S. Winston, Sr. who was a co-founder of Southwestern Christian College established the J.S. Winston Sound Doctrine Foundation. The primary purpose of this foundation is to perpetuate Christian Education and Sound Doctrine Teaching. The Sound Doctrine Foundation gives assistance to ministerial students and other Southwestern Christian College students who are majoring in Bible and Religious Education.

At the Annual J.S. Winston ~ Sound Doctrine Foundation Luncheon November 22, 1998, Sister Claudia Washington and Sister Olivia Holt presented the idea of organizing an auxiliary in memory of Sister Mizetta Winston. Sister Winston was the wife of the renowned evangelist, Bro. J.S. Winston, Sr. The proposal was enthusiastically accepted by the board of trustees and they agreed that the group would be designated as the "Mizetta Winston Auxiliary."

The auxiliary will be dedicated to the support of the Sound Doctrine Foundation in its efforts to help Southwestern Christian College become a strong viable Christian Education Institution. The primary goals of the organization will be to:

• Sponsor various fund raising projects for the Sound Doctrine Foundation.
• Assist the Foundation with any campaigns launched to enhance the growth and stability of the college.
• Encourage young people to attend Southwestern Christian College.
